Twin Robot Board Handling System

The Industrial Twin Robot Board Handling System (Twin Robot BHS) offers a fully automated, pallet-to-pallet material handling solution, seamlessly integrated with Zünd dual-beam cutters to optimize production speed and efficiency.
Specifically developed for corrugated cardboard production, it is the ideal digital solution for display and box manufacturers.
The Twin Robot BHS enables fast loading, precise alignment, backside registration, cutting, creasing, unloading, and waste separation—without interrupting the production flow.

Fast Sheet Collection

The loading robot quickly and precisely picks sheets from the in-pallet. Its gripper automatically adjusts the number of active suction cups according to the sheet format, while the extensive robot movements ensures reliable sheet separation.

Accurate Alignment and Print Registration

After picking up a sheet, it is precisely aligned using a tilted jig. The jig identifies the job and registers the print by reading QR codes and registration marks. This gives accurate cutting and material handling across varying jobs—eliminating the need for manual alignment.

Multi-Sheet Loading

For dual-sheet production the first sheet is loaded onto the cutter’s conveyor extension, then the next sheet is aligned and held just above it. This enables continuous loading during cutting operations maximizing the overall efficiency.

Dual-Beam Cutting

The Zünd dual-beam system delivers exceptionally high productivity without compromising precision—significantly boosting throughput and reducing overall production time.

Waste Separation and Unloading

Unloading takes place on a conveyor extension during the cutting process, increasing overall efficiency. Sheets are quickly unloaded one by one.
The unloading robot is equipped with a gripper that separates cut parts from waste—collecting finished parts swiftly while leaving the waste behind for separate disposal. The gripper automatically adjusts to the sheet size, ensuring accurate handling.
For full-sheet unloading, a vacuum gripper is also available.

Accurate Stacking

Cut parts are neatly stacked onto the out-pallet, already separated from the waste. This streamlined process saves valuable time by eliminating the need for manual part and waste separation after cutting.

Multi-Pallet Handling

Enhance unattended operation time with multi-pallet handling by integrating a pallet track. The track length—and consequently the number of supported pallets—can be customized to suit specific production needs.

Waste Management

While the robot collects the cut parts, there are multiple options for handling the remaining waste:

  • The robot can drop the waste frame directly onto a pallet.

  • The waste can be conveyorized away from the cutter extension. This approach reduces unload time and overall cycle time by minimizing robot movements. By adding a conveyor track, waste can be efficiently transported away from the production line.

Jig for Alignment and Registration

By combining gravity, vision technology, and mechanical tooling, the jig ensures highly accurate cutting results.
Sheets are dropped into the jig before being loaded onto the cutter. The jig handles both job detection and print registration, delivering precise alignment—even when print positions vary.

As a separate station, the jig increases overall efficiency by performing job detection and registration in parallel with the cutting process.

Compatibility and Sizes

The Twin Robot BHS system is compatible with Zünd D3 and Q-line dual-beam cutters in 1800 mm and 2270 mm width.
Multiple exchangeable grippers are available covering sheet formats from 1000x1200mm to 1200x1600mm and 1400x1800mm to 1600x2200mm.

Powerful Grippers

The Twin Robot BHS system features quick-connectors that support multiple exchangeable grippers for both loading and unloading operations.

Cup Gripper – Loading

The loading gripper automatically adjusts the number of active suction cups based on the sheet format. The flexible robot movements combined with spring-loaded suction cups ensures reliable sheet separation.

Cup Gripper – Unloading with Waste Separation

Designed to separate cut parts from waste, this gripper uses intelligent software that controls each suction cup individually—based on curve data from the cut file. Brackets fixate the sheet borders during pickup for precise handling.

Available in two sizes:
1200 x 1600 mm, adjustable down to 1000 x 1400 mm.
1600 x 2200 mm, adjustable down to 1400 x 1800 mm.

Vacuum Gripper – Unloading

For unloading full sheets without waste separation, the vacuum gripper is a reliable and efficient solution.

Available in sizes up to 1600 x 1200 mm and 2200 x 1600 mm.
